Former White House Advisor and Seattle Entrepreneur Join ThermoEnergy Corporation

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—(Business Wire)—September 27, 2005— ThermoEnergy Corporation (OTCBB: TMEN) announced that the Company's Board of Directors has unanimously approved the appointment of Ian Bowles to serve as a member of the Board of Directors and David Lahaie to serve as an Advisory Director. Mr. Bowles fills a vacancy created by the retirement of a long-time director, and Mr. Lahaie will serve in an advisory capacity until such time as the board is expanded or another vacancy occurs.

Mr. Bowles, 39, holds an A.B. in economics cum laude from Harvard College and a Masters degree from Oxford University. His career spans nearly 20-years of key leadership positions in government service, nonprofit and private sector management, academia, with special emphasis on energy and environmental issues. Mr. Bowles served in the Clinton Administration as Senior Director of the Global Environmental Affairs directorate at the National Security Council and Associate Director of the White House Council on Environmental Quality for International Affairs. In these positions, he chaired, co-chaired or played a key decision-making role in interagency policy committees on issues including environmental aspects of trade and finance, global climate change, biotechnology regulation and the negotiation of the implementation rules for the Kyoto Protocol. He has been an independent consultant to several national foundations, environmental organizations, Fortune 500 companies and the World Bank. He is currently President and CEO of the Massachusetts Institute for a New Commonwealth (MassINC), a non-profit, nonpartisan think tank based in Boston, MA.

Mr. Lahaie earned a BS in Marine Engineering and was an engineer with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), responsible for Engineering and Support for Oceanographic Research projects staged throughout the Pacific. Currently, he is the CEO of Evergreen Recycling Inc. (ERI). For the past 10 years, ERI has delivered turn-key sustainable solutions in the US and Canada for byproducts of manufacturing industries, primarily through reallocation. Industries include petroleum refining, steel making, primary aluminum production, cement manufacturing, silicon chip and hard drive manufacturing, automotive and aircraft production, power generation and water treatment. Mr. Lahaie is the Co-founder of ERI and holds 100 percent of its equity. He is the former Manager of Business Development for Burlington Environmental, Inc. based in Seattle, WA. A published playwright, Mr. Lahaie was a founding member of the Ardeo Theatre Company in France which hosted programs in professional theatre and French language.
